Franchise owners scale their high-end painting company through LIME’s proprietary Subcontractor process for recruiting, training, and retaining top talent within their protected territory.
The Production Coordinator Role.
At LIME Painting, top-notch subcontractors perform the actual painting for each custom project. Therefore, it is critical that the work of the subcontractor is monitored through all phases of production on a regular basis. Any adjustments required throughout the process must be made in a timely manner so that the work done is representative of the high-quality standards of LIME Painting. Coordinating and auditing subcontractors is done by LIME’s Production Coordinator role that specializes in production. The production coordinator works in tandem with the customer and LIME’s account manager to ensure a job well done.
LIME’s Differentiators are Appealing to Both High End Customers and Top Talented Subcontractors.
Selecting the right subcontractors is imperative to growing a successful high-end painting company. The process isn’t easy but with the right processes for recruiting, training, and retaining top talent is very possible. LIME has vetted and refined a simple yet sophisticated process managed through LIME's proprietary software platform to make the onboarding of subs more streamlined and trustworthy. After all, there is plenty of talent in the marketplace but it requires a mutually beneficial working relationship to recruit and retain talent. LIME was formed with the customer and sub contractor in mind and just as appealing as LIME is to customers that is also true of sub contractors.
LIME Partners with Many Different Subcontractors.
As a high-end painting company that works on custom properties. LIME’s skillset must be diverse to ensure a job well done and with integrity. This can look like doing carpentry or replacing gutters to ensure that the customer receives an end result that is custom and that will last the test of time.
There are three types of independent contractor partnerships that LIME Painting partners with:
· Core Sub Contractor Partnerships
· Complementary Sub Contractor Partnerships
· Referral Vendor Partnerships
The flexibility of how much the franchisee does in regards to each service offered will be dependent upon their local market and how much of that service makes up their total book of business. For example, in Colorado there may be a lot more stucco restoration skim coats than in Maine, but it doesn’t make up enough to be considered a core competency rather it is a complementary service for the Denver territory.
The three partnership classifications may vary within each market but for the most part the three partnerships outlined below should remain relatively consistent market to market.
Core Subcontractor Partnerships:
These subcontractors partner with LIME Painting to service LIME’s core competencies. These items are the most intricately woven into LIME’s sales and production process:
· Coatings
· Interior Painting and Stain
· Exterior Painting and Stain
· Stucco/Eifs/Dryvit Elastomeric Coatings, Brick (Paint, whitewash)
· Carpentry
· Crown Molding, Trim Boards, Existing Woodwork
· Cabinet Coatings
· Solid, Stain, Custom Finishes (Glaze, distress, crackle, etc.)
· Door Restoration
· Garage Door, Entry Door, Standard and Custom Doors
· Direct-To-Metal Applications
· Masonry Coatings
· Epoxy
· Complementary Wood Structure Coatings
· Decks, Fences, Gates, Pergolas, Lattice Work, Overhangs
Complimentary Subcontractor Partnerships:
These subcontractors partner with LIME Painting to service the items that complement LIME’s core competencies. Complementary subcontractors are tradesmen that make up a smaller percentage of the overall portfolio that LIME services. These items are vital in ensuring the integrity of LIME Painting’s core services. By being a complimentary service LIME writes this book of business under LIME’s contracts as opposed to the next type of subcontractor, referral contractors.
Complimentary subcontractor service items are the second most intricately woven into LIME’s sales and production process:
· Gutters
· Stucco Restoration
· Tuck-pointing
· Drywall
Referral Vendor Partnerships:
LIME Painting provides customers with trusted and reliable referrals that customers can contract with directly. These items are not woven into LIME’s sales and production process, as they are services that LIME doesn’t have expertise in. However, by providing referrals LIME can provide customers with additional value.
Referral partners will vary depending upon each market and franchisee partnerships. Some referral vendors:
· Hardwood Floors
· Windows
· Roofs
· Decks
LIME does more than paint to provide maximum value to high-end property owners. By doing so, LIME and customers benefit from custom results and lasting impressions.
Have you ever paid for a paint job that failed quickly? Was it because leaking gutters continued to expose the paint to water? Or was it due to paint being applied to failed wood?
