ASSESSMENT: This deck was heavily weathered. It had an inconsistent coating throughout. The prior top coat was applied years ago and some of the grains in the wood were starting to separate and creating horizontal gaps. It was weathered more on the stairs as they were more exposed to the elements of weathering. The floors still needed restoration but were in a little better shape because they were covered by the soffits on the back of the home. Lime suggested going with a tad darker color to match the new paint on the home.
ADVICE: Lime power washed the deck, steps, railings, stairs, and skirting. After allowing proper drying time, Lime scraped and spot sanded any areas where product failure was present or boards were dry or splintering. (Note: Lime recommended to deep sand entire surface however client wanted just a re-coat only) Next, product was applied over the entire deck. There were a few areas that needed an slight coverage coat to even out the look as best as possible without sanding. The client was pleased and just in time to entertain friends and family.
