Home Exterior Trim and Composite Wood Deck Refinishing

Mt. Pleasant Home Exterior Trim and Composite Wood Deck Refinishing

About This Project:

This upscale home in Mt. Pleasant, SC, needed the trim on the exterior of the home to be repainted badly, as it was peeling and chipping away. The home boasts 2 large IPE wood composite decks, one in front and one in the back, that had also taken a beating from the intense South Carolina weather, and needed sanded and re-stained. Composite decking is often sold as maintenance free, which isn’t actually true. Proper maintenance and protecting it from the elements will help your deck last longer and keep it looking new for many years.

Our crews scraped away all of the old, peeling paint from the window trim, door trim, pillars, fascia, soffit and railings. For the new coat of paint, we chose Benjamin Moore Regal Select Exterior Paint to be able to match the existing color. The Regal Select line provides superior coverage and adhesion on hard-to-coat surfaces, and offers extra protection against the elements.

Composite decking requires quite a bit more preparation than regular wood decking, but our crews were able to handle it and applied a new coat of Benjamin Moore Arborcoat Exterior Stain, which provides UV protection and is mildew resistant. This particular stain is biodegradable and low-VOC and an environmentally responsible choice.
