Faux Finish & Limewash Renovation

About the Project:

This condo in the historic Barry Condominium in Lakeview East Chicago was recently purchased by new owners and needed a number of updates. Having worked with the new owners before, they called LIME Painting to cover their painting needs.

They were looking for a faux finish through most of the property. We used a combination of lime wash and velvet paint from JH Wall Paints to transform their new space.

Prior to the limewash, we had to prime all substrates with the appropriate primer to ensure bonding and begin covering the previous dark colors. This was followed with a coat of the mineral primer from JH Wall Paints to begin the limewash process. The following products and colors were used:

• The primary color for the lime wash throughout the common areas, as well as the master bedroom, bath, and walk-in closet, was Nainoa 501 for the first coat, and Nainoa 500 for the second.
• The guest bedroom lime wash was done with #125, a shade of green.
• The vestibule between the guest bed and bath was done with Velvet Paint in 186 which provided a rich color and texture.
• The bathroom was done with Benjamin Moore’s Regal Select High Gloss in Sherwin’s color SW6405 Fervent Bass, a bold choice that turned out great!
• All ductwork and radiators were painted to match the Nainoa 501 with Regal Matte
• Advance from Benjamin Moore was used for the window trim in Black.
