Found in Dallas County, Glen Abbey is a gated community in the city of Dallas. As one of the newer communities within the city, this neighborhood has a population of just over 300. The community is bordered by the Bent Tree Country Club along the back and is also adjacent to White Rock Creek. This provides Glen Abbey with a beautiful view of the rolling hills crowned with mature trees that are native to the area.
What is now Glen Abbey was once the estate of Texas oil magnate and philanthropist Clint Murchison Sr. At the time of his death, the estate became the property of Curtis Murchison Jr., founder of the Dallas Cowboys. As part of a bankruptcy action in 1985, the estate was sold, eventually being acquired by Folsom Properties.
Folsom began to develop the land into a community, with the aid of Hawkins-Welwood Homes and architect Robbie Fusch. The former estate was divided into a hundred lots, and the first homes were built by the beginning of the 21st century.
Residents of this gated community have easy access to shopping, entertainment, and options for local parks and recreation. While many of the lots are now fully developed, a few remain.
