Found in Dallas County, Preston Hollow is a neighborhood found in the northern area of Dallas. Currently, it’s home to more than 4,900 residents. Originally settled for farming as early as the 1850s, people began to settle into the area and build residences while continuing to work in the Dallas City Center.

Ira P. DeLoache was the first real estate developer to purchase a farm in 1924 and begin to divide the roughly 56 acres into lots. By 1926, he had established a real estate office in the area. A partnership with Al Joyce led to further farm acquisitions and development that formally came to be known as the neighborhood of Preston Hollow. By the 1930s, a number of homes were completed. The construction of estate-style homes is said to help fuel the move to the North Dallas area.

Residents of Preston Hollow voted to become a municipality in 1939. That changed in 1945, when residents decided to become part of the city of Dallas proper. Shortly afterward, Dallas formally annexed the neighborhood.
