As part of Dallas County, Melshire Estates is found in the northern area of Dallas. This neighborhood is currently home to just under 9,500 residents. Known for being an area where ranch-style homes, beautiful trees, and a history stretching back to the 1930s, there are currently just under 500 developed lots.
The first home was constructed before any plans were made to develop the area into a neighborhood. In 1938, what came to be known as the Meletio estate was constructed. At the time, the estate was surrounded by cotton fields and not much else.
By the 1950s, development was underway in earnest. By the end of the decade, it was not just a series of ranch-style homes within Melshire Estates; shopping had also come to the area. Access to schools and institutions of higher learning made the area more attractive, and continue to command the attention of prospective homeowners today.
Since the early 1960s, Melshire Estates has had a homeowners association. The stated purpose of the HOA is “protecting and advancing the mutual interest of its members, to encourage their participation in civic and community affairs, and to support, assist and sponsor social, recreational and other activities…”
