The Central West End is a neighborhood of St. Louis that has its beginnings in the late 1890s. Much of the interest for developing the neighborhood is associated with the city’s preparations for hosting the 1904 World’s Fair. Originally viewed as a residential setting for the wealthier citizens, commerce soon followed into the area.
