Ladue is a suburb of St. Louis and is currently home to more than 8,500 people. It’s said to have the highest median income of any city within Missouri with a population of over 1,000. Launched primarily as a farming community, the history of the city goes back to the 1870s.
After the advent of the automobile, farmers began to sell parcels of land to city dwellers who were looking for a more rural place to live. This led to the development of several local communities, including one known as the Village of LaDue. In 1936, two other villages (Deer Creek and McKnight) joined with the Village of LaDue to form the suburb of Ladue.
Along with shopping venues found in the area, Ladue is also home to the headquarters branch of the St. Louis County Library system. A number of homes dating back to the early part of the 20th century remain, with many of them still serving as private residences.
